Good Question

Marketing nightmares decoded.

Answers and advice for marketing leaders struggling with:

  • executive buy-in for your strategy

  • CEO meddling

  • getting marketing budget

  • stakeholder management

Brutally familiar. Surprisingly helpful.

Good Question is a weekly newsletter written by me, Devin, a marketer with 15+ years experience who was once a CEO and now wants to use her powers for good by showing marketing leaders how to navigate the systems of power and money to get more from their marketing career with less of the drama.

Good Question is for marketers who are:

Tired of being pariahs
at their own companies.

Want C-suite trust and
autonomy to decide and execute.

Frustrated with generic playbooks not delivering results.

👋 Hi, I’m Devin

I’ve been in marketing for over 15 years and held just about every role from community manager, product marketer, content marketing manager, director and VP of marketing.

Then one day in March 2020, I became the CEO of Animalz, a content marketing agency. It was my first time working at an agency, leading an entire company - and my first pandemic - but I ended up being pretty good at it. I transformed Animalz into the leading content marketing agency in B2B Saas working with the biggest tech companies in the world and grew revenue from $1.8M to over $12M.

Now I help companies grow and make more money as a consultant and the first thing I do that delivers ROI almost immediately:

Getting the CEO out of marketing.

After years of doing this, I realized the people I really want to help are marketing leaders themselves.

I’ve experienced what it’s like dealing with executive challenges as marketer, been the CEO signing-off on marketing strategy and identified patterns of behavior from my CEO clients as a consultant.

Good Question is part of my new mission to help marketing leaders gain influence with stakeholders and decision-makers so they can get more from their careers with less of the drama.

Trusted by CEOs. Loved by marketers.

Remember that time…

  • The CEO signed-off on your strategy then cross examined you about it at the companywide kickoff

  • You were expected to deliver pipeline growth with a $0 budget, AI and a freelancer

  • Your Head of Content cried burnout every other week

  • Your CEO really wants to “do more thought leadership” then rejects every. single. post. your team writes

  • The CFO demanded a report showing the revenue impact of every breath you take (at work)

  • You delivered results then leadership changed your goals
